Who is Andrea Kay?

My legal background includes twenty-two years of practice before both state and federal courts in Texas and New York. I began my legal career in New York City with a national firm specializing in international aviation litigation. I returned home to the DFW area and worked with a premier Dallas law firm representing professionals and corporations in insurance defense litigation. I was then recruited in-house by a publicly traded hospitality company as General Counsel. When the company was sold, I turned my attention to working with Kinko’s Inc. (now FedEx) in recruiting, training and developing the entire 20+ person legal team following the company’s relocation to Dallas from Ventura, California. I then worked for over a decade as independent legal counsel in corporate securities and tax for a global private equity firm. 

 

My husband and I live in the DFW area and have three sons in college. I enjoy meeting my clients in person when possible or via Zoom. Our initial meetings together will involve in depth conversations as I learn more about you and your goals and dreams. I have found this exploratory communication and art of weaving your story to be so rewarding as it results in a compelling common theme for your application. My passion is in the writing and helping you to develop your story. Once we establish a solid working relationship and the theme to your application becomes clear, there is often a “light bulb moment”, and your personal statement will often flow from these in-depth conversations.
